education centre that takes you on an exciting journey into the wondrous world of migratory birds. Here you can experience how birds navigate and fly over thousands of kilometres in one of nature's most impressive feats.<\/p><p><strong>The hot-spot for migratory birds<\/strong><br \/>Skagen and Grenen is one of the most important places for migratory birds in Denmark, where thousands of birds pass every year on their journey. Visitors can learn about bird migration, both locally and globally, and get tips on how to spot birds in the nature around Skagen. Whatever the weather and season, the centre provides inspiration for unique birding experiences, while the latest research on migratory birds is presented in a lively and interactive way.<\/p><p><strong>Fun for the whole family<\/strong><br \/>The centre also offers activities adapted for children, where they learn about the role of the lighthouse for both migratory birds and shipping. Children and adults can follow the daily life of the bird station, which is dedicated to scientific research. After exploring, take the winding steps up the tower and enjoy the spectacular views from the top of the lighthouse.<\/p><p><strong>The story behind the Grey Lighthouse<\/strong><br \/>The Grey Lighthouse, which was inaugurated on 1 November 1858, is Denmark's second tallest lighthouse at 46 metres - second only to Dueodde Lighthouse on Bornholm. Designed by architect N.S. Nebelong, it took four years and 200,000 rigsdaler to build. The lighthouse's rotating lens weighing over two tonnes rests on mercury and with its 400 watt sodium lamp created a flash every four seconds, visible up to 20 nautical miles away.<\/p><p>Located in the centre of Skagen's Odde, the lighthouse marks the border between Skagerrak and Kattegat. To reach the top of this impressive structure, you'll have to climb the 210 steps up an elegant brick spiral staircase - an experience worth trying in itself.<\/p><p>Visit The Grey Lighthouse and
