Skagen Salmon

With a focus on sustainability and high quality

Welcome to Skagen Salmon

Skagen Salmon is an innovative land-based salmon farming company located near Skagen, Denmark's northernmost town. With a focus on sustainability and high quality, the company produces salmon using an advanced Recirculating Aquaculture System (RAS). This system ensures minimal environmental impact and optimal animal welfare by continuously recycling and purifying the water, creating the best conditions for the salmon.

The facility has an annual production capacity of between 3,600 and 4,000 tonnes of salmon. The land-based farming method gives Skagen Salmon full control over water quality and temperature, resulting in salmon with a firm meat structure, a fresh flavour and a lower fat content. These qualities make the salmon particularly sought after by professional chefs and food enthusiasts.

Sustainability is a core value for Skagen Salmon. The company has designed its RAS facility to protect both the environment and the salmon, which means that production is gentle on the marine environment and free from parasites such as sea lice. By eliminating the need for open sea farms, the risk of disease and pollution of the natural marine environment is reduced.

To minimise environmental impact, Skagen Salmon uses advanced technologies, including ozone treatment, which helps maintain optimal conditions in the facility. This technology contributes to a cleaner aquatic environment while supporting efficient and sustainable production.

The company prides itself on delivering high-quality salmon to local markets and is constantly working to optimise its processes to ensure even more sustainable and responsible food production. With a strong focus on innovation and environmental considerations, Skagen Salmon is setting new standards for the future of aquaculture.
