If there's even the slightest hint of sunshine and a little warmth in the weather, don't miss out on a herring lunch at the harbour in Skagen. Alongside hundreds of other hungry lunch guests, it doesn't get much more authentic than this - with herring and fish pulled from the sea and processed in the best possible way, and perhaps with a cold beer to wash it down.
But there are plenty of other places to visit. From the classic coffee shop at Krages Bageri, where the 'Øretæven' - a French glazed snail layered with delicious cream and partially covered in chocolate - is a local favourite.
And to the many different café food, Italian pizzas and homemade burgers on Havnegade, where the places are close together and the street buzzes with life, especially during the summer months.
If you want the real deal, you can't go past the classic hotel restaurants at Ruths Hotel and Brøndums Hotel. But if you're planning a visit during the high season, you'll need to book a table at these places - because that's when the good places in Skagen are really busy.
