At Uggerby Å, you will find Bindslev Gl. Elværk, the only water-driven, grid-connected direct current power plant in Denmark. The power plant played a crucial role in the development of the local area, supplying Bindslev and its surroundings with direct current from 1920 to 1968.
Today, the site is open to the public and offers an exciting blend of history and nature. In the old machine building, visitors can gain a unique insight into the power plant’s operation and significance over the years. The original turbines and generators have been preserved, providing an authentic view of how electricity was produced using hydropower.
The area surrounding the power plant is also a scenic destination, where the rushing waters of Uggerby Å create a unique atmosphere. Here, visitors can take a relaxing break and experience the historical ambiance that still characterizes the site.
